The Northwestern Connecticut AIDS Project, (NCAP) is the second oldest AIDS service agency in the state. NCAP was founded in 1985 by Gerard Wagner, a Litchfield County resident who was living with AIDS.

NCAP began as a grassroots organization consisting of a telephone information hotline that was operated out of Gerard’s kitchen. Until his death in 1986, Gerard dedicated himself to educating people about the AIDS crisis in Connecticut, and to helping others living with HIV/AIDS to find care, compassion and personal living assistance.

Today, NCAP has grown into a registered 501 (c) 3 - non-profit agency, staffed by trained social workers, HIV educators, and case managers. The staff and agency is guided by a full time Executive Director and a full Board of Directors. Additionally, NCAP is a contributing partner in the community service provider network.

NCAP provides services to clients that live in the Northwestern corner of the state including:

Canaan, Norfolk, Colebrook, Falls Village, Goshen, Cornwall, Winchester, Barkhamsted, New Hartford, Warren, Kent, Torrington, Litchfield, Harwinton, Thomaston, Plymouth, Morris, Bethlehem, Washington, New Milford, Roxbury, Woodbury, and Watertown.
